Paris Airshow

This summer we designed, manufactured and installed the new Boeing pavilion to showcase their new TX fighter jet at Paris Airshow. The building was 55m x 15m and constructed on the runway at Le Bourget airport. The 60 tonne steel portal frame was fabricated in Birmingham and shipped out to Paris in April to start what would be a 4 week build.

The subfloor was constructed using cold rolled steel purlins and tongue and groove chipboard. The roof and walls were clad using Trisomet composite cladding with a internal gutter system.

Inside the building we constructed a mezzanine with cold rolled joists and a chipboard deck and 2 steel staircases for access. There was also a steel frame supporting a curved video wall. The mezzanine had temporary live edge protection.

Transporting the TX model fighter jet into the building was a full scale logistical operation, with a temporary ramp being constructed to push it in through the gable end of the building.

2 x 5 tonne forklifts then lifted the model off the trolley and the gable end completed.

There were 3 glazed areas installed by Helm-X, each with a glass door and ramp.

The ramps had frameless glass balustrade with a stainless steel toprail.

We also constructed an open air steel framed structure complete with roof to shelter Bell’s new assault helicopter.
